Santo Tomé del Puerto. Club Loreto

The Loreto Soaring Club is a non profit sport organization which main aim is the promotion of the aeronautical sports in general, soaring in particular, in Spain. We are located at Santo Tome del Puerto Airfield, next to the national road N-1 that goes from Burgos to Madrid, right at the feet of the Sistema Central, north of the Somosierra pass.
The local meteorological conditions and geography make possible to practice ridge soaring, termals and wave. We operate on weekends. In summer we remain open in July and, depending on the number o members available, also in August.
Members that plan to fly their private gliders are warned that our airstrips are rather "rough" due to our closesness to the mountains.
The club has two tug machines and a fleet of gliders which is available to its members. We also accept members with private gliders. At the moment all aircraft, club and private ones, are kept int two rented hangars in the airfield.
The club provides trainning for those members that want to learn flying: basics and cross country. This trainning is voluntarily provided by club members who have an instructor license, issued by the Spanish Aviation Authority, at no extra cost.
We are open to new members, not only Spanish/European but also from the rest of the world.
